Mixed-reality headset
Apple’s mixed-reality headset is a rumored device that is expected to combine virtual reality and augmented reality technologies. It is said to be a standalone device that can overlay digital images and information on top of the real world, as well as create immersive virtual environments. Some of the possible uses for the headset include communication, entertainment, education, art, and business.
The headset has not been officially announced by Apple yet, but it is widely speculated that it will be unveiled at this WWDC. The headset is reportedly codenamed N301 and will run on a custom operating system called xrOS. It may feature a sleek design, high-resolution displays, advanced sensors, eye-tracking, hand-tracking, and spatial audio. It may also support wireless connectivity and work with other Apple devices such as the iPhone and the Apple Watch.
The headset is expected to be a premium product that will cost around $3,000 and target a niche market of developers and enthusiasts. Apple may only sell about one million units in the first year of launch. The headset is seen as a precursor to a more mainstream device that Apple is also working on: a pair of lightweight AR glasses that could launch in 2025 or later.
